Redfish are Chewing !!!
It is the pre spring bite in northeast Florida! Trout season closed on Feb. 1st and Redfish are the Target this Month. Fishing has been good on the bottom of the tide.Fish are schooling up in the areas that tend to warm the earliest. These are the dark muddier areas that are very trick to acess. If you aren't careful you'll be there for a while, so pay attention to the tide! Pole these areas and look for fish on transition ledges or structure edges like oyster bars. The fish are in the upper slot and will pound a DOA Jerk bait or shrimp in a second. The creeks are loaded as well you just have to find em, but when you do stay put and hold on ! The fish have been staging in areas and feeding along thier daily routes. Here the fish have to move, as thier spots at high tide are completely dry at low tide 6 hours later. These fish often stage as close to thier comfort zone as they have to go. These fish are often at a outside deeper corner, if thiers a feeder creek and some oysters all the better.Shrimp will get it done for the bait fisherman, and soft plastics seem to be the most productive artifical offerings. The weather has gone to the good as far the genral patern and the water is fairly clear. It's a great time to fish up here in St. Augustine in Febuary and March. Give us a call and book a trip that you talk about for a long time to come. Tight lines and Good Fishing ! Capt.
